Eigenaar Jason van het Britse Ai-label schrijft via de eigen mailinglist het volgende:

“So this is good news for you guys. As I have decided to cut down my 10 file copies to 7 for each release So I have quite a lot of stock for sale of EVERY RELEASE ON AI. Including all rare / deleted items. So if you want anything email us your want list and its first come first served on items, including everything from the back cat. So email us over and like I say I will work out a price based on the only fair way I can think is cheaper than the average price on discogs. Ie gemote is $250 on discogs I will do it for cheaper. Depending on what else you order. They wont be really cheap but at last you can stock up on the items missing from your collection from my stock.”

Dit leverde in ieder geval één boze reactie op:

“Who gives a shit if the Gemote CDr is listed on Discogs for $250? That’s because people are incredibly greedy assholes. And apparently you are one of them. You run this label, right? So why in the world would you attempt to charge someone more than something should really cost? I understand the assholes that do it on eBay and Discogs, but it’s YOUR label. Your words below speak VOLUMES about what type of person you really are. People that run record labels don’t do this kind of shit. It’s greed. Don’t send me any more of your spam, as I have no intentions of supporting your label anymore. Enjoy the karma that is right around the corner…he is a faster runner than you are — ANON.”

Is Ai Records nu echt te ver gegaan? Heeft ANON gelijk? Of is het gerechtvaardigd dat Ai Records munt wil slaan uit de schaarste van de ‘back-catalogue’ van het label? En belangrijker: is de muziek van Ai het echt waard om gekocht te worden voor een prijs ‘die de gek ervoor geeft’?

Luister naar muziek va Ai en vergeet niet het adagium op de site van Ai Records: ‘enjoy and spend loads’!
