Mick Chillage: alleen als 'ie ijs- en ijskoud is

mick-chillage-igloo Vanuit zijn koelcel in Ierland heeft Mick Chillage recent zijn debuutalbum Tales from the Igloo uitgebracht. Nu doen wel meer artiesten dat, maar a: Mick Chillage zijn eerdere mixen op Eclectro vielen in erg goede aarde en b: Tales from the Igloo combineert op glorieuze wijze idm, electro, ambient en techno.

Via zijn rijkelijk gevulde Soundcloudaccount kun je een compilatie fragmenten van alle tracks op het album horen, plus dat de tracks ‘Dubmarine’ en de prachtige Pentatonik-remix ‘The Final Storm’ volledig beschikbaar zijn. XFM Dublin dj Mick Chillage is inmiddels een vaste bezoeker van Eclectro geworden en als dank voor de aandacht die wij hebben besteed aan zijn fijne old school mixen en zijn onlangs verschenen “Eye On The City EP” is hij achter zijn Ableton-software gekropen om voor ons een knetterende electromix in elkaar te zetten.

In korte tijd hebben wij Mick leren kennen als een ware liefhebber van electronische muziek en ook nu druipt het enthousiasme weer af van deze uitstekende mix. Geniet daarom mee van deze exclusief voor Eclectro gemaakte set en vergeet niet je feedback te geven in de comments!

Met twee hele dikke oldskool mixen heeft XFM-dj Mick Chillage al aardig wat exposure gehad op deze site. Vorige week is zijn eerste EP, genaamd “Eye On The City”, verschenen op het netlabel This Side Music:

“Latest addition to This Side Music’s roster, irishman Mick Chillage, an avid music lover for decades and long-time contributor to the underground electronic scene in his homelands, beatifully crafts his inspiration and influences to create three fresh sounding analog tracks which retain their old-school character while they keep an open eye to the future. Eye on the City sets off electro-style with its acidic bassline and breakbeat rhythm paving the way for the melody and a huge bass synth to kick in. Keep in mind that this melody may stick in your head for a while! Next up, Project Echo sounds exactly like one should expect; filled with echoing synths and a so-deep bassline along a filtered detroit rhythm section that invite you to join their dubby soundspace. The last track on the EP, Altitude, promises to get you as high as you let yourself; and it couldn’t miss with a soft & nice melody like this.”

Naar aanleiding van deze fijne mix van XFM Dublin’s Mick Chillage is er sprake van een heuse mini-old school revival hier op Eclectro. En niemand minder dan Paul Chillage doet er nog een schepje bovenop door ons te attenderen op nóg zo’n fijne mix van Mick.

Nog meer Detroit classics, old school, techno, breaks en aciiieeed uit Ierland dus, die de ergste honger zullen stillen tot Mick (hopelijk) zijn exclusieve Eclectro mix op de burelen van de redactie dropt. Stream of download de mix hieronder:

De jeugdvrienden Mick en Paul hebben al sinds begin 1996 hun eigen radioprogramma op XFM Dublin. Samen vormen zij het duo The Chillage Idiots en laten zij het beste op het gebied van electronische muziek voorbij komen. Tevens stellen zij regelmatig op de site van XFM podcasts ter beschikking om nog eens fijn van de shows te kunnen nagenieten.

Van dit duo is met name Mick Chillage ook druk bezig met het produceren van muziek. Binnenkort verschijnt op het netlabel This Side de gratis EP “Eye On The City” en tevens zijn er enkele volledige tracks van zijn hand te beluisteren op Last.fm.

Naast presenteren en produceren brengt Mick ook regelmatig mixen uit, waarvan zijn meest recente, “Total Confusion”, een hele dikke aanrader is. Ruim een uur kun je intens genieten van breaks, old school, techno, disco en natuurlijk… aciiiieeed! Stream of download deze waanzinnige mix hieronder:
